ENSEMBLE TRAINING
Go Beyond Your Instrument...
PROGRAM INFORMATION
Each ensemble is designed to train young
musicians to utilize their instrumental skills and musicianship to
be just as comfortable in a group performance setting as they are
on their own. Private instruction and individual practice are a fantastic
and essential part of growing as a musician, but they do not offer
the opportunity for working with others. Being able to fit into a
larger whole is an essential component of good musicianship.
Each
class session will consist of two major components. First, the students
will have a chance to work in “break-out” sessions, where
they will receive individualized attention from our instructors.
This will allow them to feel confident with their individual parts
and prepare them to perform well in a group setting. Second, the
students will play as an ensemble under the guidance of both instructors.
Every ensemble will learn at least three pieces during the course
of the workshop. Each class will culminate in a performance on the
last day.
For the class, each student should plan on bringing their
instrument, sheet music, and an amplifier for guitar and bass players.
A drum set, keyboard, and keyboard amp will be provided. Sheet music
for all songs will be provided to each student prior to the start
of the program.
